PROFESSIONAL MASSAGE THERAPIST

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Swedish Massage?
Swedish Massage is the most common type of Western massage and it was started in Sweden in the 1880s. It is also known as classic massage or relaxation massage. Swedish Massage involves long and short, kneading strokes, as well as light, rhythmic, tapping strokes, on the topmost layers of muscles. The names of some of the more common techniques used in Swedish Massage are effleurage, petrissage, friction and tapotement. Swedish Massage forms the basis for all the massages that I do.
Where is your practice?
I work from my own home in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya. I have a clean and comfortable room set up just to do massages. I will provide my address after your appointment has been confirmed.
What is your massage set-up like?
I try to create a spa-like environment for each massage session. I diffuse a unique blend of essential oils, play soothing music and use low lights. I will adjust the room temperature based on a client’s preference. Bath and face towels are available for your use in the adjoining bathroom.
Do you do house calls?
All my work takes place on a massage table and I am happy to come to your house if you have a height-adjustable massage table. Please contact me for more information.
Do you use oils or lotions for your massage?
I prefer to use lotions for all my sessions. My preferred choice is unscented, very emollient lotion from Alba Botanica. Lotions are lighter than oils, easily absorbed into the skin and doesn’t leave a sticky residue. If you prefer to use oils for your massage, do let me know. I’ll be happy to oblige.
Do you use essential oils in your massage?
I use essential oils in a burner to create a relaxed and peaceful environment for my client. My favourite oils at the moment are lavender, grapefruit, frankincense, and ylang ylang. Please let me know if you have any allergies to any essential oils.
What can I expect during my first session?
You will do a short written intake during your first session (about 10 minutes). I will also explain to you what I will be doing during our session and answer any questions you may have. At the end of the massage, I would appreciate it if you could leave a short written feedback based on the session.
Do I need to undress for the massage?
Yes, if you are comfortable with it. A client usually removes their clothes (you may keep your underwear) before the session starts. You will be covered with a soft sheet throughout the session and I will only undrape the part that I am working on. I can work over clothing as well if you prefer to keep your clothes on.
Do you accept male clients?
Yes, I see male clients based on referrals. Please contact me for more information.
Is there anything I should avoid before coming in for a session?
If you are feeling sick just before a session, please let me know. Depending on your condition, massage may help you feel better. In many cases though, massage can be contraindicated and should be rescheduled. Also, please avoid eating a large meal before a session or coming in hungry. Eating lightly about an hour or two before a massage is ideal.
Do you offer any massage packages?
I do! I offer 5+1 packages (buy 5 massages, get the 6th massage free) for all the massages that I do, so you get to save when you sign up for multiple sessions.
